good byes are never easy-CMB blog post #6

In Color Me Butterfly, Marlow shares a poignant moment with the reader “Well I guess this is it.”(411)

Treasure is preparing her self and her personal belongings to go off to college. Her mother Lydia is feeling a little melancholy because her daughter is leaving. They enjoy a quiet ride in the car to the college and after Treasure gets settled in it is time for her mother to leave, they exchange a moment of heavy heartedness as they say good bye and Lydia departs. This part of the book touched me deeply as I just took my daughter off to Ohio State University. My daughter and I are very close and it is hard to say goodbye to her and visa versa. Although we all know she will be fine and it will be good for her it is still difficult. I look forward to her coming home, always!

peer review

I was fortunate to have my peer review done by Liv. She has a knack for writing and very poetic in her prose, therefore I got to benefit from her wisdom and creativity. She gave me much positive feedback coupled with good advice and comments to help me revise my essay to not only read better but to present better also. She also taught me how to edit my essay with the handy functions within my computer. Functions I didn't even know existed. I can use her expertise with this assignment and the ones that follow. This assignment is teaching me skills that I will apply in my future classes. It has been a great learning tool, both the actual writing of the essay along with the peer review.

Deller

I feel Deller is a constructed knower. Right from the beginning she shows signs of constructive knowing. On page 56 she "tells Ben only things she wants him to know." This is a good example of contextual truth and inter subjective knowledge. She shows a strong core ability when she defends her mother to Issac by jumping on his back and digging her nails into him. She displays a dynamic change in self when she chooses to forgive Issac, her father and brings him into her home and life. She demonstrates authority when she admits him into a nursing home(pg.288) when she realizes it is too difficult to care for him on her own. I find her dialog to be very straightforward and unwavering. I feel Deller processes qualities of a constructed knower from beginning to end.
